Women's Health and Wellbeing

There are a number of health issues that are specific to women, most of them relating to the structures of female anatomy and the process of human reproduction. Women's health and wellbeing covers a broad area of the health industry, including such areas as menstruation, maternal health, contraception, child birth, menopause, and breast cancer. Along with these specific medical issues, there are also a number of gender-differentiated relaxation and wellness treatments designed especially for women. Women's wellbeing and relaxation practices in particular are sometimes linked to the beauty industry, and there are a number of distinct areas where health, exercise, and beauty practices overlap.

Along with the number of issues women face as a direct result of female anatomy, there are also some medical situations where women have to deal with problems based on their sex but not related specifically to their biology. Most of these issues are related to equal access to medical treatment, including access to both sexual and non-sexual based care. While women's health and wellbeing is an important issue all over the world, it is especially important in some undeveloped and developing nations. Women are often discriminated against with regard to their sexual and biological rights, especially with regard to contraception, abortion, child birth, and maternal health.

Along with the physical issues relating to female health, there are also a number of important psychological considerations relating to general female wellbeing. Males and females have very different hormonal balances and other issues relating to emotional and mental wellbeing, and a number of organisations have been developed to deal exclusively with female health and wellbeing concerns. These concerns have filtered all the way down to basic relaxation and cosmetic practices, where women often undergo individualised treatment that caters especially to female emotional, mental, and physical health. Some of the many ares of the health and wellbeing industry that have started to develop female oriented practices include massage, aromatherapy, acupuncture, and cosmetic beauty.

The notion of health has taken on a wider and more wholistic meaning in the 21st century, where subjects such as relationships, finance, and lifestyle are all talked about in the context of a healthy life. This kind of attitude has a number of parallels with the eastern notion of health, which is not so tied to specific physical conditions but to wholisitic life patterns and relationships. The term wellbeing goes a long way to help define these areas, by making considerations for general wellness and relaxation, along with emotional and mental health. Whether you are talking about physical, emotional, or mental health, there are a number of medical and more wholistic practices that are specific to the wellbeing of all women.
